Why Cross Rules?

Cross is funny that way. I have tried to write a few times on why I love cross. I really can't narrow it down. It is just fun. I can't say it any other way. Cross has changed the way I look at racing. I have been racing bikes now for awhile. I started road racing, then went into mountain bike racing. Both are awesome. The one year I heard about cross. I borrowed a bike and gave it a try. I fell in love and have been racing since. I don't worry too much about being in shape for road season anymore. I just work and get ready for cross. Here are some pics of my beautiful ride.

Here is a breakdown of my bike:
Pinarello CX Carbon frameset
3T bar and stem
Sram Red Groupo
FSA SLK Brakeset
Reynolds DV46 Cross Tubulars
Tufu Flexus Tires
Thomson Master Post

The FSA Brakes are the best brakes on the market for cross. Endless adjustment and extreme stopping power. The Reynolds wheels are a super bomb proof tubular wheelset that weighs a little over 1300 grams. The Pini frame rocks. Short top tube allows for great handling through the tight corners and technical sections in cross. The carbon Pini uses really helps with all vibration dampening. That is my quick review on the bike.

Cyclocross...growing on me

What is it about cyclocross that makes the sport so cool?  Saturday's race was out at Sandy Point.  The race is put on by the Broken Spoke Cycling crew. There was a fresh, crusty 1/2" of snow on the course.  I'm out there trying to warm up, following the narrow beaten path on the course so I didn't have to blaze my own trail.  My toes and ears are freezing but I remind myself that I hate racing with a beanie on, traps too much heat.  I then had a great idea and went back to my car and put a little of the hot balm sports balm on my ears.  That stuff is awesome.  My ears soon were forgotten and through-out the whole race, only my toes were cold.

After the race on my way home my ears started to burn like crazy,  the balm works well when it's cold outside, once you get into room temperature environments, the balm really starts working!
